Mindset changes everything
Andrew Lloyd Webber has a song called ‘Love changes everything’. Which is true. But mindset changes everything too. Take a look at this story I was sent a while ago...
“Last year I started on a puzzle. It looked like a tough puzzle. Lots of pieces, lots of similar stuff. The background was scattered with yellow leaves. In the foreground was lots of water splashing from one side to the other. In the middle were horses, some spotted all over. It was very ‘busy’.
I got myself completely overawed (Hannes would say confockulated). Believe it or not, I ended up by trying to collect all those scattered yellow leaves that dotted the entire background. Then I tried to collect all the pieces of the hardest horse – the spotted one! Needless to say I got nowhere. It was just ‘too hard’. I gave up.
A month ago I tried again. This time I ignored the millions of itty bitty leaves. I ignored the swirls of water that were all over the show. I started with the easiest horse, which was a white one. There weren’t too many white horse bits, so I easily collected them all and fitted them in. Then I was away, onto the next one, no problem.
I realized that the puzzle was not actually a hard one. I couldn’t believe how I had sabotaged myself by trying to make it as hard as possible the first time around.
And I didn’t even know what I had done to myself!
It was the SAME puzzle. Looking at it one way, it was hard. Looking at it another way, it was easy. And I had first chosen to see it as hard!
It is amazing that the same thing can be so different depending on how you look at it.”
That is a great example of how our mindset makes all the difference. Even ‘objective reality’ can change. It was the same puzzle – but she had changed, and so it went from hard to easy.
The same is true of wealth creation. Many people have set up a website with Build A Web for nothing. Some of them are now saying that they ‘need to set aside time to write an e-book’ that they can sell. Or spend time building up a big database. They think it will take ages.
I see them building an unnecessary mountain to climb. I say they can start where they are. Today. Now. Even if their database is only seven people (like mine was when I started!). Even if the e-book is not yet written.
Right now, today, you can send an e-mail that gives value to people.
Something you have learned that most people don’t know. Something worth knowing. You can share it with people, and you will have begun to build a business that, like ours, brought in nearly $80 000 in a single day.
Leon (my Build A Web partner) and I started like that too. Not long ago.
The wealth insight for today: you can make it easy or you can make it hard. It’s up to you. You may not even realize how many unnecessary barriers you are putting in your own path.
Don’t assume that it is hard because you’ve been told so. Or because ‘everyone knows that’. That’s what everyone thought about building a website without paying the ‘experts’.
Now more than1300 people know from personal experience that it’s not so!

Wealth Insight 2009-11-06 Where does today’s money come from?   I’m not talking about historical money right now, though that is an interesting tale! For now I am just looking at where today’s money comes from. The money in your pocket. The money owing on your bond.   Okay, you worked for it. Or you borrowed it.   But where did it come from?   Yes, your employer. The bank.   But before that?   It was created out of nothing.   Once... Read more...

If I can describe it in this way what the Kaizen Challenge has meant to me. Previously in my life it felt like I was work in the change room of the bokke cleaning their boots for them and working hard for them. In Kaizen challenge I have started to see that I am part of the bok team and I am starting to run out of the tunnel and seeing the daylight, the field and Read more...

Taking more responsibility in all aspects of my life, this has meant a great deal for me and my family. I look at a problem as an opportunity and can even now after a heated discussion put my hand out and shake the other parties hand and feel at ease with myself. I can see that people do not put in the time to work on them self’s and that is why they Read more...
